3 Attributes to Look for in Bathroom Tile

Bathroom tiling will make a huge impact in the look and feel of the room. Before you purchase tile study the 3 attributes to look for in tile for the bathroom.

Scratch Resistance - When putting tile in a high traffic area of the home, such as the bathroom, it is important to choose bathroom tile with a high scratch resistance. A five or better is fine for residential areas but you may want to step up to a seven or better for commercial, or very high traffic, areas.

Wear Rating - The wear rating of tile is based on the PEI scale with a range of one to five with one being the softest and five the hardest. You may choose a one wear rating in tile for a bathroom that is seldom used or doesn't get a great deal or dirt. A two or three wear rating would work in most residential homes while a commercial institute may need a five.

Water Absorption - Water absorption is very important when dealing with tile but even more so in a high water environment like the bathroom. Choose a tile that will best stand up to the bathroom environment.
