Andy Warhol Area Rug Collection

Andy Warhol is one of the most well-known contemporary artists whose pop art is replicated often in commercial art. It is not surprising that his work even makes its way onto the area rugs so many of us have in our homes.

Andy Warhol started as a commercial artist, doing illustrations for magazines such as Vogue and Harper�s Bazaar, among others. He was a renaissance artist, doing many creative endeavors such as painter, filmmaker, record producer and author. His films even had quite an underground following.

The Factory, the name of the Andy�s artists� studio, was such a popular hang out that many artists and celebrities were found there creating their work. It was said that silkscreen art could be seen being made next to film scenes. This was a place for parties as well as creation and musicians like Bob Dylan frequented it.

Criticized widely for his work when he was alive, Andy Warhol�s work is still recognized by many people even if they do not realize he was the artist behind the work. Andy Warhol was criticized for using popular American brands and celebrities in his work, his critics suggested that he used well-known brands in his work just to make money.

Andy Warhol is perhaps most well known for his Campbell�s Soup and Marilyn Monroe silk screen images. Both can be easily found as posters for sell to anyone and are instantly recognizable for his style of art as well as the popularity of both Campbell�s and Marilyn.

While recovering from gallbladder surgery in 1987, Andy Warhol died of a heart attack. As his will stated, a foundation was set up in his name. The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts was established to further artistic freedom and encourage cultural organizations to support artists.
