You are here   Home Home Improvement and Design Home Decorating Faux Painting - 3 Techniques You Can Do Yourself

Faux painting has become increasingly popular. You can create almost any look, affect, or object by faux painting on walls and furniture. It can be as simple or elaborate as your space, and talent, allows.

Faux painting is a painting technique. The word Faux(pronounced /ˈfoʊ/, like "foe"), is a French word meaning fake or false representation. Faux painting has been used many times to create the look of marble or wood grains.

Today, faux painting techniques such as stippling, ragging, or dragging are terms used to describe wall treatments that simulate marble and certain woods. In addition to imitating the look of natural stones and woods these techniques are also used to create depth, texture, or an aged or antiqued appearance.
