Spotted and Striped Rugs : Stepping Outside Your Style Box

Many people shy away from all but the most traditional of area rugs but unless you have a very traditional home, this isn’t necessary. Stripes and spots, or circles, are a great way to branch out into new designs. Both styles come in area rugs for children and adults.

Stripes are much more popular as an area rug style, more so than stripes or circles. This may be because circles tend to lean more towards contemporary stylings, while stripes can be subtle or bold, and simple or extravagant. Stripes area rugs will work well in casual, transitional, or contemporary homes.

Circle patterns, or spotted, area rugs may be popular in children’s rooms as they can be fun and vibrant. Children will enjoy the fun shapes and colors that will let their imagination go wild.

Subtle, solid circles can be used in adult decorating as well. These rugs can be found in bold, abstract contemporary design patterns but they can also be found in patterns that would work for casual and transitional homes.

Break outside of your decorating style box and try out geometric rug patterns like stripes and spots.
