Faux Painting - Stippling

Stippling is a faux painting technique done by dobbing a paint brush with paint or stain and using it in a pouncing motion. By holding the paint brush in your hand perpendicular to the wall, not slanting, you lightly pounce the paint on the wall or furniture.

This technique is quite affective at appearing wallpaper like when done in a manner where you rotate your hand in between pounces so you virtually have no pattern to repeat. It will create more of an all over texture than a pattern.

There are many resources online that teach the proper technique to stippling or any other faux finish. Your local paint stores have the best information and informed staff to help with your questions. You can find information online at Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore .
