The 60-30-10 decorating ratio is a great color tip for those who aren't quite sure how to split color up in their room.

60 percent of the color in a room should be made up of the dominant color, 30 percent of a secondary color, and 10 percent of an accent color. While in no way is this a hard and fast rule, it can be a helpful guideline.

If you have trouble deciding on what colors to use in your room, look around at your favorite pieces in it. Perhaps you love a throw or a painted canvas that has great colors you can pull your 60-30-10 ratio from.
